Study of Lain

This is a portrait of my character Lain. She struggles with a gruesome and troubling past, and I wanted the tone of her portrait to reflect her uneasy livelihood. I decided to go for a rougher, more natural graphite approach akin to physical portraits I have done on tan paper with graphite and white charcoal. I really enjoyed implementing my traditional art knowledge within the digital space. She's also one of my favorite original characters, so it was very rewarding for me.
